Football World Cup
England Through to the Quater Finals
England’s dramatic 1-0 win over Ecuador in Geneva was the launching pad for a flood of patriotic support which has seen them cut from 7-1 to 6-1 second favourites with VC Bet. They are now favoured in the betting to the host nation Germany.
VC Bet’s Rob Walker commented “There is a huge feeling of expectancy about England’s World Cup chance and a genuine belief from punters that we actually have a team that could go all the way barring injuries and suspensions”.

There are two cracking ties involving three of the football world cup qualifiers on the box this Saturday. Tempted to have a bet on the world cup action? If so, check out the spread betting markets on offer at Sporting Index. As well as allowing you to back a football team to perform well or badly, they’re offering all new clients a free £150 per goal football bet** (details below). Here are our thoughts on both games, to help you with your decisions:
Sporting Index has made England clear favourites, predicting that they will come out on top by 1.1 to 1.3 goals. With or without Gerrard, England should be far too strong. Lampard and Rooney are in fine form at club level, and although Defoe isn’t in Owen’s class, he should find Wales’ inexperienced defence quite accommodating. Anything less than three points would be quite a surprise, and another poor result for Sven.
Italy will of course be a much tougher proposition, and question marks over the Italian’s lack of match fitness should be ignored. Sporting Index are predicting that the visitors will win this one by 0.8 to 1.0 goals. However, the Italians have an outdated reputation; don’t expect them to settle for a single goal. Scotland are improving in the post-Vogts era, but this game should be viewed as part of the learning curve.
